Motion To: That the Rules of Procedure be suspended to consider the following motion, as the next Council meeting is December 11, 2019 and the City’s motion confirming support for the 2023 or 2024 FCM Annual Conference and Tradeshow bid must be made now to meet Ottawa Tourism’s deadline of November 29, 2019: WHEREAS the City of Ottawa’s Bid More, Win More, Host More strategy is designed to attract world-class conferences and events to Ottawa and promote economic prosperity and growth; and WHEREAS the City of Ottawa seeks to host the 2023 or 2024 Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Annual Conference and Tradeshow; and WHEREAS the FCM Annual Conference and Tradeshow is the premier event for municipal government in Canada, attracting 2,000 delegates, 500 companions, and over 600 exhibitors annually; and WHEREAS the FCM Annual Conference and Tradeshow provides significant and positive economic and socio-economic impacts as well as legacies for their host communities; and WHER
