ITEM: TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE INITIATIVES

Motion Yes No Absent/Recused
Motion To: WHEREAS the Council Expense Policy requires that funds transferred to City operations from a Member’s Constituency Services Budget be accomplished by a Council motion; and WHEREAS Council has approved such expenditures when asked; and WHEREAS Members recognize that the intent of the Expense Policy is to ensure that Members do not add ongoing operating budget pressures without Council consent; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Transportation Committee recommend that City Council approve an amendment to the Council Expense Policy that would permit Members to purchase those traffic control measures that staff agree will not add ongoing budget pressures without the need for a motion, to be effective only for the remainder of this term and to be reviewed as part of the next term's Governance Review.

Public Comment Contact Information

Everyone is entitled to attend committee meetings and provide a verbal statement (up to 5 minutes long) before Councillors vote on each agenda item. If you are not able to attend a meeting, you can also email your comments to councillors. Either way, your statements become part of the official record - and this is the single most important step to shaping the outcome of your city.
